Why Our Products Are Labeled "Research Use Only"
At Frontline PNW, you'll notice that all of our products are clearly labeled "Research Use Only." This isn't just a formality — it's an important distinction required by industry regulations and the way the FDA oversees chemical research. Here's why:
FDA Approval Costs
Bringing any compound through the FDA approval process costs millions of dollars. While this is manageable for Big Pharma, it's out of reach for smaller research suppliers.
Large-Scale Trial Requirements
Even before approval, companies must run extensive preclinical (animal) and clinical (human) trials — costing hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. These requirements make it nearly impossible for research-focused companies to pursue.
Patent Limitations
Most chemicals are naturally occurring proteins. Because of this, they often don't qualify for patent protection, which makes them less appealing to large pharmaceutical companies driven by profit.
Off-Label Competition
Doctors can prescribe FDA-approved drugs "off-label," which broadens competition. Even when a chemical counterpart exists, the regulatory and financial hurdles prevent smaller companies from entering that space.
